Celebrating 20 Years of Service:
1989 - 2009
The Autoimmune Resource & Research Centre (previously known as the Scleroderma-Lupus Autoimmune Resource Centre) is celebrating 20 years of operation. The Centre was established in 1989, to provide education and support to individuals with a range of systematic and organ-specific autoimmune syndromes, such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Scleroderma, and Sjogren’s.
The Scleroderma/Lupus Support Society raised the initial funding for establishment of ARRC, through the Warners Bay Lions Club and the NSW/ACT Public Health Care Foundation. Staff Specialist Funds, public donations through the Support group, and some small corporate contributions, provide our current funding.
ARRC provides specialised services such as patient education through education seminars, information packs and individual psychological counselling for patients. The centre also offers access to innovative research projects that focus on improving diagnosis and management of autoimmune illnesses. ARRC operates out of office space kindly provided by HAPS and offers access to the latest management, diagnostic, screening and research initiatives available in the region.
I congratulate and gratefully acknowledge all staff and volunteers who have helped us reach this milestone.
Yours sincerely
A/Prof Glenn Reeves
