Support Group Meetings
The Society was formed in Newcastle in 1980 to serve the Hunter Region. At this time, monthly support meetings commenced.
The meetings are designed to help people with Scleroderma, Lupus, Sjogren's and Raynaud's Phenomenon learn how to cope with problems due to their illness with a positive and hopeful attitude, while enjoying the fellowship of those present.
Most people with these diseases have experienced feelings of loneliness and sometimes despair while undergoing numerous tests over a lengthy period of time. To finally arrive at a diagnosis brings relief but also fears for the future. Mutual support can greatly ease that apprehension and help to improve a person's quality of life.
We suggest you ring one of our contact numbers prior to attending a meeting. We have all found it helpful to talk to somebody "in the same boat".
